Activities that have been carried out in first project year. (June 2007)
After the project has been approved by national agency, the regular meetings have happened in order to continue the project. 3 project meetings have been planned in total and the 1st meeting has been held in our school. Teachers from partner schools have met each other and collaborate according to the annual planning. The number of teachers who joined the meeting from 6 countries was 21. Teachers from partner schools both learned the Turkish educational system and Turkish culture.
As an introduction work, all schools have prepared a presentation about the reading lessons and teaching of reading in their countries. We have also prepared a presentation about the teaching of reading and the methods of reading lessons in our country. At the end of the meeting each country have chosen one of these methods to apply in their schools. The results of this duty have been controlled in 2nd and 3rd meetings.
A target group of 80 students (40 girls and 40 boys) at the age of 10-11 have been chosen and they have been used on some project works. Some other students from different age levels have joined different activities as well.
As an outcome;“Travellers’ Tale” has been started and our students have done good performances.
A bulletin board about the project has been prepared inside the main gate of block C in order to inform other students, teachers and parents. Some pictures from the meetings, information about the project amd some works of students were available on the bulletin board.
Nearly 30 students have tried to prepare project logo and after the voting by the students best three logos have been brought to the 3rd project meeting in Poland and the Turkish logo was voted the best logo among 6 countries and accepted as official project logo.
Out of project works, students exchange letters or postcards to their penfriends in partner schools in order to improve their foreign language and make new friends.
A messaging group of Yahoo has been built in order to communicate easily and started using by the group members 2nd meeting was in Hungary in January and 3rd meeting was in Poland in June. 8 teachers from our school have joined the meeting in Hungary. In 3rd meeting in Poland, there were 5 teachers from our school. In both meetings the planned activities have been carried out. As a result of school sightseeings, the teachers had a chance to observe and compare the other countries’education system and get to know other cultures.
